RAIM Media Facade Projection Project

2025

Project Portfolio
1. Project Overview

In November 2024, our team delivered a large-scale media façade projection project for the Seoul Robot & AI Science Museum (Seoul RAIM) located in Dobong-gu, Seoul.
The goal was to transform the museum’s iconic spherical architecture into a monumental digital canvas by installing a high-brightness projection system and creating a full visual experience that integrates technology, design, and public art.

2. Technical Installation & Equipment

A key focus of this project was the deployment of a high-output laser projection system capable of illuminating the museum’s curved façade.
Professional On-Site Installation
The projector was unpacked from a custom flight case and carefully secured using precision-engineered mounts and safety fixtures.
High-Brightness Laser Projector (tens to hundreds of thousands of lumens)
Ensured clear visibility and strong color performance even in outdoor environments.
Custom Outdoor Mounting Structure
Installed on a pole and metal frame to allow exact angle alignment, keystone correction, and stable long-term operation.

Weather-Proof Protective Housing
Designed specifically to protect the equipment from rain, dust, and temperature changes in the Seoul climate.
These technical preparations formed the foundation for a stable, professional-grade media façade system.

3. Projection Mapping & Content Design

The projection content was designed around a theme of robotics, artificial intelligence, and the future—reflecting the identity of the museum.
Precise UV mapping tailored to the building’s spherical geometry
Motion graphics featuring robotic gestures, flowing data, and futuristic visual patterns
Multiple color, brightness, and distortion calibrations conducted on-site
A seamless visual that makes the architecture appear alive and dynamic
The resulting content served as a public art piece that communicates imagination, technology, and innovation.

4. Pre-Visualization & Simulation

Before installation, a full 3D simulation was developed to validate the projection plan and creative direction.
Realistic modeling of surrounding roads, buildings, traffic, and night lighting
Accurate simulation of light spread, surface reflection, and color behavior
Visual previews that allowed decision-makers to understand and approve the concept
Efficient communication between technical teams, designers, and government officials
The pre-visualization significantly reduced on-site risk and streamlined the production process.

5. Final Showcase

At night, the Seoul RAIM building transformed into a luminous digital sculpture.
The large-scale projection created several urban and cultural impacts:

Increased foot traffic and dwell time around the museum
Higher public recognition of the museum’s identity and purpose
A new nighttime landmark for Dobong-gu
A functional media platform that can host future cultural and scientific content
The project successfully blended architecture, light, and storytelling into a unified nighttime experience.

6. Project Significance

This project is more than a façade projection—it is a fusion of art, technology, and urban experience.
Establishes a scalable city-level media façade platform
Demonstrates the potential of public digital art for cultural engagement
Achieves one of the earliest large spherical building projections in Seoul
Provides technical groundwork for future AI-driven or interactive media expansions

The Seoul RAIM media façade illustrates how technology can enrich public spaces and transform architecture into a living cultural medium.
